Price: The Mahindra Thar is priced from Rs 10.98 lakh to Rs 16.94 lakh (ex-showroom pan-India).

Variants: It is sold in two broad variants: AX(O) and LX.

Colours: You can buy it in six colour options: Everest White, Blazing Bronze, Aquamarine, Red Rage, Napoli Black and Galaxy Grey.

Engine and Transmission: Mahindra offers the Thar with three engine options: a 2-litre turbo-petrol engine (152PS/320Nm) and a 2.2-litre diesel engine (130PS/300Nm), both paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic transmission options. The RWD model uses a smaller 1.5-litre diesel engine (118PS/300Nm) which only comes with a 6-speed manual transmission, and the turbo-petrol unit with a 6-speed automatic only.

Features: Its features list comprises a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also comes with cruise control, halogen headlights with LED DRLs, manual AC, and steering-mounted controls. Mahindra has also included a washable interior floor as well as detachable roof panels.

Safety: On the safety front, it gets dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, hill descent control, traction control, rear parking sensors, and a seat belt reminder for both the driver and front passenger.

Rivals: The Mahindra Thar rivals the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. It also rivals similarly priced monocoque compact SUVs like the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, MG Astor, Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen Taigun, Toyota Hyryder and Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara.
